Model accuracy

We tested every model on real records it never saw during training. Here are our three strongest, scored by AUROC: 0.5 is a coin flip, 1.0 is perfect.

Depression isn't scored by a model. It comes straight from your answers on the PHQ-9, the same nine-question tool doctors use in clinic, so there's no accuracy figure to report for it.

How it works

Three minutes to a clear picture.

Answer what you know, skip what you don't. The model does the rest.

01
Answer a few questions
Age, blood pressure, a handful of optional health details. Everything is optional, and partial answers still produce a useful estimate.
02
See your risk across 12 conditions
XGBoost models trained on 12,000+ CDC/NHANES records return a personalized likelihood for each condition, compared to population data.

What you get

More than a number. A center for prevention.

Your percentages are the start. An account turns them into a plan you can follow.

Risk trends over time
Your three highest risks, charted automatically across every assessment, so you can see whether your habits are working.
A companion that reads your history
Ask plain questions about your results and get answers grounded in your own assessments, not generic advice.
Screenings & nearby free clinics
Targeted, low-cost screening options for your highest risks, plus community clinics that offer free and sliding-scale care.

Your health shouldn't depend on your zip code.

Where you live and what you earn quietly decide whether you ever get screened. Millions skip preventive care, not because they don't care, but because a doctor's visit costs too much, sits too far away, or asks for insurance they don't have. Late diagnosis then costs far more, in money and in years. Regen AI removes the price tag and the gatekeeping. The same risk screening, free, for everyone, wherever you live, whatever you make.

How Regen AI works

Regen AI estimates your risk for 12 chronic conditions from answers you already know. No doctor visit, no lab work, no cost. Take the free assessment →

The short version

You answer a set of questions about your health and habits. Regen AI runs those answers through statistical models trained on real, de-identified public health data, and returns a percentage for each condition. That percentage is an estimate of how your profile compares to people in that data. It is a screening signal to help you decide what to pay attention to, not a diagnosis.

The data behind it

The models were trained on roughly 12,000 de-identified records from public U.S. health datasets (CDC / NHANES). These are large, government-collected health surveys used widely in medical research. No individual in that data can be identified, and your answers are never added to it.

How the models work

Each of the 11 physical conditions has its own XGBoost model, a machine learning technique well suited to this kind of tabular health data. It learned which combinations of factors tend to be associated with that condition across the training population. When you complete an assessment, the model compares your inputs to those learned patterns and outputs a probability. A higher number means your profile looks more like people who had that condition in the data, it does not mean you have it or will get it. Depression works differently: it's scored directly from your answers on the PHQ-9, the same questionnaire doctors use in clinic, not a trained model.

What it is not

Regen AI is an educational screening tool. It cannot diagnose, it does not see your full medical history, and it can be wrong in both directions. A low number is not a clean bill of health, and a high number is not a diagnosis. Always talk to a licensed clinician about anything that concerns you. If you are having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number.

Sources behind the lifestyle guidance

The health companion's suggestions are grounded in peer-reviewed research and major clinical guidelines, not general chat. Here's one landmark study per condition:

Health terms glossary

Plain-language definitions of the health terms you'll see most often in your Regen AI results and reports.

A1C

A blood test that shows your average blood sugar level over the past two to three months. It's one of the main ways diabetes and prediabetes are tracked. A normal A1C is below 5.7%, prediabetes is 5.7-6.4%, and diabetes is 6.5% or higher.

BMI (Body Mass Index)

A ratio of your weight to your height, used as a rough screening tool for whether someone is underweight, a healthy weight, overweight, or obese. It doesn't account for muscle mass or body composition directly, but it's widely used because it's easy to calculate and correlates with risk for several chronic conditions.

Blood pressure (systolic/diastolic)

The force of blood against your artery walls, written as two numbers: systolic (top number, pressure when your heart beats) over diastolic (bottom number, pressure when your heart rests between beats). A normal reading is below 120/80 mmHg.

LDL cholesterol

Often called "bad" cholesterol. High levels of LDL can build up in your artery walls, increasing risk for heart disease, heart attack, and stroke. It's typically measured through a lipid panel blood test.

HDL cholesterol

Often called "good" cholesterol, HDL helps remove other forms of cholesterol from your bloodstream. Higher HDL levels are generally associated with lower cardiovascular risk.

eGFR (estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate)

A measure of how well your kidneys are filtering waste from your blood, calculated from a blood test. A lower eGFR can indicate reduced kidney function. It's one of the main ways chronic kidney disease is staged.

Hypertension

The medical term for high blood pressure: sustained force against artery walls that's higher than healthy levels. It's often called a "silent" condition because it rarely causes noticeable symptoms.

Atrial fibrillation (AFib)

An irregular, often rapid heart rhythm that can increase the risk of stroke, heart failure, and other complications. It's one of the leading risk factors used in stroke risk models.

Insulin resistance

A condition where your body's cells don't respond normally to insulin, making it harder to regulate blood sugar. It's a common precursor to type 2 diabetes and is closely linked to fatty liver disease.

BNP (B-type natriuretic peptide)

A hormone released by the heart when it's under strain. Elevated BNP levels in a blood test can indicate heart failure, and it's commonly used to help diagnose and monitor the condition.

Spirometry

A breathing test that measures how much air you can exhale and how quickly. It's the standard test used to diagnose and monitor COPD and other lung conditions.

CRP (C-reactive protein)

A marker of inflammation in the body, measured through a blood test. Elevated CRP can be associated with arthritis, heart disease, and other inflammatory conditions.

Medical disclaimer

Regen AI is an educational tool for understanding your health risk. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The percentages you see are statistical estimates that compare your profile to patterns in public health data. They are not a verdict on your health. Please don't use Regen AI to delay or replace care from a real clinician. If you think you may be having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number right away.

What we store

Only what you give us, and only if you create an account: your name, your email, and the assessment results you choose to save so you can track them over time. Sign-in and passwords are handled by a secure third-party authentication provider, which means we never see or store your password.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data. We don't add your answers to the model's training data. And we don't share your individual results with anyone for advertising. Your results are yours.

The AI companion

When you ask the health companion a question, your question and a short summary of your saved risk numbers are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate the reply. Because of that, please don't type in anything you wouldn't want handled by an outside service. And remember the answers are AI-generated: they can be imperfect, so treat them as general information to think about, never as medical advice.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about Regen AI's free online health risk assessment: how it works, what it screens for, and what causes the conditions it covers.

A free online health risk assessment estimates your likelihood of developing chronic conditions based on your health profile, without requiring a doctor visit, lab work, or insurance. Regen AI screens for 12 conditions using models trained on roughly 12,000 de-identified CDC/NHANES records, and returns a personalized percentage for each one in about three minutes.

No, you can take a full assessment and see your results without signing up. Creating a free account just lets you save your results, track how your risk changes over time, and get personalized lifestyle recommendations.

Regen AI's models are statistical estimates, not diagnoses. Each condition has its own model trained on real, de-identified public health data, comparing your profile to patterns in that data. A higher percentage means your profile looks more like people who had that condition in the training data. It's a screening signal to help you decide what to pay attention to, not a clinical result.

No. Regen AI is an educational screening tool, not a medical device. It cannot diagnose you, and it doesn't replace a licensed clinician. A low score isn't a clean bill of health, and a high score isn't a diagnosis. Always talk to a doctor about anything that concerns you.

High blood pressure is driven by age, high BMI, excess sodium intake, low physical activity, and family history of hypertension. It's often called a "silent" condition because it rarely causes symptoms while quietly damaging the heart, brain, and kidneys.

Chronic kidney disease is most strongly associated with high blood pressure, diabetes, age, and family history of kidney problems. It often develops with no symptoms until function is significantly reduced, which is why early screening matters more than how someone feels.

The strongest risk factors for diabetes include high BMI, low physical activity, and family history of diabetes. Excess weight and low activity are the two factors most people can change fastest to reduce their risk.

Heart disease develops from a buildup of plaque in the arteries supplying the heart. The primary risk factors are high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, and family history of early heart disease. It's the leading cause of death in the U.S.

Stroke risk is most strongly influenced by high blood pressure, atrial fibrillation, diabetes, and smoking. Blood pressure alone accounts for a large share of stroke risk. Monthly checks can catch dangerous changes early.

Yes. We only store what you give us if you create an account: your name, email, and the results you choose to save. We never sell your data, never add your answers to the model's training data, and never share your individual results for advertising. See our privacy & disclaimer page for the full details.

Most calculators give you a one-time score and nothing else. Regen AI lets you log your results, track how your risk trends over time across all 12 conditions, and get an AI health companion and lifestyle guidance tailored to your own history. That turns a single number into an ongoing picture of your health.

There's no strict rule, but many people retake it every few months or after a meaningful lifestyle change, like starting a new exercise routine or getting new lab results. Because Regen AI tracks your history, retaking it regularly is what turns a single score into a trend you can actually act on.

Why Regen AI was made

The story behind the idea, and how it became what it is today. Curious what we screen for? See the 12 conditions →

Where it started

When I was young, my family had a cleaning lady who didn't have health insurance. She was also paid hourly, which meant that even when she was sick, she couldn't afford to stay home. Every missed day was money she needed. So she kept showing up to work sick, and her illness kept getting worse because she never had the chance to actually rest and recover.

A pattern, not an exception

Watching that happen taught me something I didn't have words for yet: health isn't just about biology. It's tangled up with money, with time, with whether you can afford to take a day off. The more I looked into it, the more I found the same pattern everywhere. People with lower incomes are statistically more likely to develop chronic conditions, not because they don't care about their health, but because healthcare access is uneven, insurance is expensive, and when you're working to make ends meet, a doctor's visit can feel like a luxury you can't justify.

A class project with a real problem behind it

That problem stuck with me. When I got the chance to build something for my Student Ventures class, I knew I wanted to build toward it. The first version of Regen AI was simple: a one-time risk calculator. You'd enter your demographics, vitals, labs, medical and family history, and lifestyle. Then a model trained on roughly 12,000 de-identified CDC/NHANES records would estimate your risk across what's now 12 chronic conditions. It worked, and it gave people real insight into their health for free, with no gatekeeping.

From a calculator to a center for prevention

But the more I used it, the more I realized a single risk score wasn't enough. Knowing your risk only helps if you can actually do something with it. So I rebuilt Regen AI into something bigger. Now you can log in, track your results over time, see how your risk in each condition is trending, get lifestyle recommendations based on your highest-risk areas, find nearby clinics, and talk to an AI health companion that helps you understand what your numbers actually mean for your day-to-day choices.

The person who made it possible

None of this would exist without Mr. Jaymes Dec, my Student Ventures teacher, who mentored me through every part of turning this from an idea into something real, including helping me actually get the model built and working.

Where it's headed

Regen AI is still growing. But it started from one simple belief: that understanding your own health risk shouldn't depend on how much money you have, or how easily you can get to a doctor.
